Job Summary

The Fruit Processing Worker performs routine manual tasks involved in the preparation, processing, and packaging of fresh fruit products in a food processing facility. The worker assists with sorting, cleaning, cutting, and packaging fruits to prepare them for distribution and sale while maintaining food safety and sanitation standards.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Receive and handle fresh fruits delivered to the processing facility.

  • Sort fruits by size, quality, and ripeness according to production standards.

  • Wash and clean fruits using appropriate sanitation procedures.

  • Peel, cut, slice, or prepare fruits using knives or basic food processing equipment.

  • Remove damaged or defective fruits from the production line.

  • Operate basic fruit processing or packaging equipment under supervision.

  • Package fresh or processed fruits into containers, trays, bags, or boxes.

  • Label and stack packaged fruit products for storage or shipment.

  • Transfer materials and finished products between processing and packaging areas.

  • Clean and sanitize production equipment, work surfaces, and processing areas.

  • Follow food safety regulations, sanitation procedures, and workplace safety guidelines.

  • Perform other related production tasks as assigned by the supervisor.

Minimum Requirements

  • Education: No formal education required.

  • Experience: No prior experience required; on-the-job training will be provided.

  • Skills: Ability to follow instructions and perform repetitive production tasks.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand for extended periods during production shifts.

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.

  • Ability to perform repetitive movements such as sorting, cutting, and packaging.

Work Conditions

  • Work performed in a fruit processing or food production facility.

  • Exposure to refrigerated areas, moisture, and food processing equipment.

Schedule

  • Full-time position (35–40 hours per week).

  • Overtime or weekend shifts may be required depending on production schedules.

Supervision

  • The Fruit Processing Worker performs duties under the supervision of the Production Supervisor or Plant Manager.
