Job Summary

The Flower Farm Worker performs manual agricultural tasks involved in the planting, cultivating, harvesting, and processing of flowers and ornamental plants. The position requires physical labor and the ability to work outdoors or in greenhouse environments under the supervision of the farm manager or supervisor.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Prepare soil, planting beds, and greenhouse areas for flower cultivation.

• Plant seeds, bulbs, cuttings, or seedlings according to farm production schedules.

• Water, fertilize, and maintain flower crops using appropriate agricultural techniques.

• Remove weeds and maintain clean planting areas to promote healthy plant growth.

• Monitor plants for pests, diseases, and growth conditions and report issues to supervisors.

• Apply fertilizers, pesticides, or other crop protection materials following safety guidelines.

• Harvest flowers and ornamental plants at the appropriate stage of maturity.

• Trim, grade, sort, and bundle flowers for packaging and shipment.

• Load and unload harvested products and materials as required.

• Operate basic hand tools and simple farm equipment used in flower cultivation.

• Maintain cleanliness and organization of farm work areas, equipment, and storage areas.

• Follow all farm safety procedures and instructions from supervisors.

Minimum Requirements

• Education: No formal education required.

• Experience: No prior experience required; training will be provided.

• Skills: Ability to perform repetitive manual labor and follow instructions.

• Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and kneel for extended periods.

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.

• Work Conditions:

  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions including heat, cold, and humidity.

  • Work may occur in fields, greenhouses, or packing areas.

Schedule

• Full-time position (minimum 35–40 hours per week).

• May require early morning, weekend, or seasonal overtime depending on farm production needs.

Supervision

• The worker will perform duties under the direction of the Farm Manager or Field Supervisor.
